…Get deep inside the minds of these characters to see what they are thinking and feeling. Of course, as an author, I can control what happens to them, but I work hard to let them control how they react. It takes a lot of really good beta readers to help keep me honest to make sure my characters have continuity throughout the story. I never want to let my mood on the day I am writing them dominate their responses and actions. I try to get neutral and let them do what they are going to do.

You have been invited to an exclusive compound that is prepared for the Zombie apocalypse, however everyone must have a skill to enter. What would be your skill to enter this club?
I make really good toast. I mean really, really good. It starts with the right bread. You have to toast it just right. Use real butter. Homemade jam that you made yourself, in just the right quantity. There’s so many ways people get toast wrong. I get it right. I think they would appreciate that.
Again, for the apocalypse, you can only carry one backpack…. What would you pack?
